Some of our work > Education Exchange
The need
Bolton Council wanted to develop a website to help them communicate a framework to support schools' self-evaluation and development and to list providers who can help schools with specific issues. They also needed the site designed and developed very quickly.
The solution
iflourish was commissioned because of our agile, flexible approach and ability to listen and understand the needs of the client and the audience. We simplified the designs and also the navigation structure which had previously been suggested and quickly provided a clean and uncomplicated design. We broke the project down into phases so that the essential functionality was prioritised. The initial Education Exchange website was delivered in just 6 weeks and launched in September 2011.
The second phase of development involved designing and building mechanisms to help schools communicate with each other. Schools can publish their profile stating their priorities and successes they want to share with others, as well as overview contextual information, e.g. size of school, number of pupils with SEN, etc. Schools can also publish posts, comment on and share posts in the same way that many social media sites operate. The Education Exchange is helping build a sense of community, enabling schools to share advice, talk to each other more easily to solve common issues.
It was launched in January 2012 and the Bolton School Improvement Team is currently working with local schools to help them maximise the benefits of using it.
The results
The feedback from Bolton, schools and training providers has been very positive with comments about the ease of navigation and clean design.
